This book all about three friends who are fed up with their work life and just want to take a break. They do take up time in deciding what kind of trip they plan to take and settle with a boat trip. There's no doubt if the book is humorous or not, because it definitely is. But there are instances where the humour is not humorous too.
The three men plus a dog travel along the river Thames, and the landmarks along the way are described well. As they travel, they face lot of situations, some difficult too, but somehow manage to move on. A lot of flashbacks happen during the journey few of which contain humour.
The story diverges a few times which makes the book boring and there are incidents that are gloomy too. Despite all these, the book is written cleverly and is a quick read. It is recommended for anyone who wishes to take a break from their daily boring routine and travel with the group of three, plus the dog of course!
