KILLING FLOOR

My Rating - 4/5

Author - Lee Child

Killing Floor is the first novel featuring the famous Jack Reacher. First off, the name Jack Reacher is well selected and apt for the character. Second, it's a great book filled with suspense. Third, Reacher is differently normal than the usual main characters of various books which makes him unique.

Reacher just happens to visit a dot on the map town Margrave and is instantly arrested for murder, which of course he didn't commit. Eye witnesses saw someone of a similar build, like Reacher, and it is assumed that Reacher is the culprit. Reacher isn't bothered about it at first but his brother comes into the picture and things get personal. Once the identity of the murdered man is revealed things get extremely interesting and Reacher is set on destruction mode.

The book has a slow start, but picks up the pace once Reacher's brother who Reacher hasn’t seen in many years gets involved. The book is written from Reacher's perspective, and Reacher speaks very less, sometimes in a word or two. The characters are well written and it takes time for the reader to decide who to trust and who not.

As the pages turn it becomes clear that this is not just an ordinary Murder story, and that there's a huge criminal scheme cooking in the background. Reacher only trusts few people at this stage and is determined to take revenge and then the awaited action starts. Reacher ends up getting his revenge at the end. And the book has a smooth ending.

Overall, it's a fantastic thriller and is recommended for age groups ready to witness a lot of action and violence. The good thing is that this is just the first Reacher book which means that there's a lot of Reacher stories to catch up with.
