My Rating - 5/5
When it comes to Mahabharatha there are a few stories that standout and the story of Abhimanyu is one of them. He is well known for breaking into the chakravyuha singlehandedly and defeating loads of the enemy soldiers until he was killed mercilessly by the evil minds.
Mahabharatha is a humongous tale such that each story is interconnected with some other story. Portraying the story of a single character is tricky. The author Deepak M.R. has done a brilliant job by solely focusing on Abhimanyu whilst balancing the interconnected stories.
Abhimanyu's childhood is beautifully written. His training, determination, longing to meet his father and many more emotions are combined to make him a strong teenager. When he finally sets out to meet his father, the wit he uses in getting himself easily into King Virata's kingdom without getting recognized is noteworthy. All the meetings between Abhimanyu and Princess Uttara are enchanting.
Moving on to the great war, each line is written with such detail that it feels like the war is actually happening before your eyes. The detailed description of the chakravyuha is mind blowing. Not only the chakravyuha, but also the details of various weapons are described such that once you read it you can't forget it.
Overall, it's a great book and totally worth reading. It is recommended for people of all ages and is a great read.
